We’re well into our Playoff Schedule now, and time for a bit of an update.

Division I

Friar Tucks overmatched Black Sox in the 4 vs. 1 Semi-Finals series to advance to the Finals. The 3 vs. 2 series saw Thunder upset Ten Men Out (if you can call it an upset when both teams are 13 – 7) in a closely played series to move on.

Friar Tucks took game 1 of the Finals series by 1 run in the bottom of the 9th in what looks to be a pretty good series. Their series continues Monday on GG5 at 8:15.

In the Consolation series, 7th place Misfits managed to make it through the first round without a miscue, upsetting 6th place Havana Blast to go undefeated. They come out as the top seed after the first reseeding, with the 5th place Chiefs being relegated to 3rd seed after their stunning loss to Full Throttle. Havana Blast took 2nd seed and Full Throttle ended 4th while DDG was eliminated following their 2nd loss.

The next round continues Monday night with Blast hosting Chiefs (both are 1 & 1, so the winner moves on while the loser is eliminated) and then Wednesday when Misfits host Full Throttle. With Misfits being undefeated, they can survive a loss while Full Throttle goes home if they lose.

Teams will be reseeded following Wednesday’s game.

Division II

Guelph Brewers faced Locknuts in the 4 vs. 1 Semi-Final and lost their 1st game 7 – 6. They managed to bounce back in game 2 and then eeked out the victory by 1 run in game 3. Pour House was too much for Jose’s Noodle Factory to contend with in the 3 vs. 2 series and swept the series handily.

Guelph Brewers host Pour House in the Division II Finals beginning late Monday on GG6.

In the Consolation side of things, we are still waiting on the completion of the first round. The only upset of note to this point in their series was the 7th place Long Shots prevailing over 6th place Swamp Donkeys. That puts Long Shots at 2 & 0 going into the reseeding, while I C Tile & Stone ended 0 & 2 and have been eliminated. Sweaty Mitts could also go 2 & 0 in this round and send Sandlot home if they win on Monday night.

Teams will be reseeded following Monday’s game, so remaining teams are reminded to be prepared to play in either of Wednesday’s or Monday’s available time slots.

Masters Division

Lyon Financial upset Generals in the Play-in series to win the right to face Touch of Grey in the 4 vs. 1 series. They carried their winning streak into game 1 with an 11 – 9 upset victory. Touch of Grey fought back in game 2 to tie the series, which continues Monday night early on GG5 with the deciding game.

Here 2 There Freight took game 1 of the 3 vs. 2 series over Domino’s Pizza, but then the wheels came off. Domino’s squeeked out a 15 – 14 victory in game 2 to tie it up and then came out fighting in game 3 to upset Here 2 There and move on to the Finals.

Domino’s Pizza will face the winner of the Touch of Grey / Lyon Financial series beginning Wednesday night late on GG6.

Masters 45

Powerline Electronics took command of the Play-in series against Jose’s Noodle Factory to advance to the 4 vs. 1 Semi-Finals against Rangers. They gave Rangers a scare by taking game 1, but were unable to continue and lost the next 2 games.

Barzotti Masters were just too much for Royal City Garage Doors in the 3 vs. 2 series. They took command in game 1 and, despite a bit of a scare in the 7 – 5 game 2, managed the sweep to advance to the Finals.

Rangers play host to Barzotti in game 1 of the Finals beginning on Monday night.

Good luck to all teams in their quest for Playoff Supremacy!
