Regular Season Wrap-up
We’re down to the final day of the regular season and looking forward to the Closing Tournament next week – and it’s been a pretty good ride! We’ve pretty much determined our Final Standings, but there are still a couple of positions to be decided in B Division tonight.
A Division
First off, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate X on another successful season. They managed to go unbeaten during the regular season (though they did have a scare or 2 along the way!) and will look to continue their success in the Closing Tournament.
The only necessary adjustment made to the Final Standings was in determining the 5-7 seeds. Three teams ended their seasons at 10-10 and we had to dust off the tie breaking formulas to see how it would all shake out. Frontline won that battle and earned the 5th seed with a 2-0 record over No Pepper and a 1-1 tie with Boston Pizza Meat Lovers. No Pepper gained the 6th seed by winning the season series over Meat Lovers 2-0, and Meat Lovers fall to the 7th seed.
B Division
Balls & Dolls came into the league this year in a big way, earning the Division Crown with an (almost) unbeaten season. The only blemish on their record came in response to roster difficulties, but those have since been dealt with and they look to finish their season with some tournament success. Congratulations on your season!
The division has mostly been decided at this point, but there is one area which still needs to be determined – and it all hinges on what Hab / Hab Nots do in their game tonight. Should they win, they will be tied with CPA Hurricanes but will lose that matchup on the season series, which they lost 1-0. A win tonight will earn them the 4th seed. The other side of that coin (should they lose) would see them drop into a tie with Jose’s Banditos and the eventual 6th seed – based on Run Differential (they tied their season series).
Nissan sits in the middle of this, waivering between 4th and 5th depending on Balls Deep to lay a beating on Hab / Hab Nots. Should that game result in a tie (which they did the last time they met) then Nissan would end 4th and Hab / Hab Nots get 5th on their loss the only time these 2 teams met in the season.
You see the fun we’re having … hehe?
The tie between Scared Hitless and Gremlins (7th & 8th seeds) comes down to a straight Run Differential as they ended their season series at 1 win each.
C Division
Finally, a division that sorts out their own mess!
Bases Loaded takes the Division Crown with the highest run total in the league on their way to a 17-2 record – which they hope to improve tonight in their final game against WGIL. Congratulations on your success this season.
