It’s a little on the wet side out there right now – and an ideal time to remind everyone about the rainout policy.
The city has implemented a procedure this season controlling the use of the sports fields when conditions are poor. This procedure was put in place to protect the fields and ensure they will be usable for the whole season. While the procedure serves to protect the multi-use fields from being totally trampled, the effects of playing on a ball diamond are less severe: we are trying to convince the city that they should be looked at differently!
As it stands right now, the city has full control of determining when they feel the fields are safe to play on and will not be damaged if they are used. They will post the status of the fields on the city website by 2:00 pm and it is our responsibility to check their site and make sure it is okay to play.
Any time there is inclement weather or the possibility that the fields will be wet, please check out the Sportsfield Status link before heading out to the diamonds. If the city says the fields are open, you must assume your game is still on. In the event of current weather, the umpire will make that call out at the diamonds.
