We always do what we can to try and avoid playing in unsafe conditions, and thunderstorms definitely fall into that category.
Having said that, the thunderstorms they were predicting for today seem to be about 3 hours ahead of their original schedule and should (according to my last look at the weather network) finish up some time between 6 and 7 tonight. They are predicting some rain to follow in behind the storms for about an hour, but should clear up somewhat after that.
Due to the fact that I have not witnessed any significant rainfall which would flood the diamonds (and obviously our ongoing diamond situation), I hesitate to cancel games in advance when we could/should have favourable conditions to get them in. For this reason, all games scheduled for tonight will go as planned.
Please make sure your team shows up at the diamonds ready to play tonight.
Should thunderstorms still be a factor at game time, I would encourage everyone to give it a chance to blow over before calling the games outright.
I remind everyone that it is the umpires’ call to determine if it is safe to play.
