Not sure what I was smokin' …

I wandered out to the diamonds today to check on the progress of the lights on GG4 – I sure wish I could report some!

I had been given to believe that the lights would go up fairly quickly once all the parts cleared the border. I was assured that the parts had finally arrived and it would be sometime next week (this is going back a couple of weeks) – probably late in the week. I considered scheduling some games in this week, as that would’ve allowed an extra week in case something didn’t go according to plan, but then I thought – I should allow another week on top of that to be totally on the safe side.

Some rained out games were scheduled on GG4 in the late slot for next week, but I’m going to have to cancel them. There is just NO WAY those lights will be ready on Monday when all the poles are still laying on the ground today with no light fixtures evident. I could be wrong, but I certainly don’t want teams showing up expecting to play only to be disappointed.

I will revise the schedule (today) to fit these games in, but please note – there’s a game or 2 that I’ll need to change that wasn’t on GG4 late. While some teams have been lucky enough to make it through the season without any rainouts, others have been struck more than once and I’ll need to get their games in without scheduling conflicts and before the late games on the 26th. There is a possibility the city will extend our season beyond the October 1 cutoff (they did last year) but Mother Nature may want a say in the matter as well and there’s no guarantee she’ll be cooperative!

Please check your schedules to make sure there are no conflicts and that you will be able to field a team on the revised dates.
