2012 Proposed City Budget

Rates & Fees

Today, the City of Guelph will release the proposed 2012 Operating Budget. As part of the budget, there is a proposed rate increase that will affect most of our facility and sports field users. For most ice and sport field users this would mean a 3% increase over the 2011 rates.

City Council will consider the budget submission over the next few weeks, and final deliberations will take place on December 7, 2011.

As part of that process, there is a Council meeting scheduled on November 23, 2011 at which Council will hear public delegations related to the proposed Budget. If you wish to be a delegation for that meeting, please send an e-mail to clerks@guelph.ca.

If you have further questions about the 2012 Proposed Operating Budget and the impact on rates, please contact Bob Burchett. Team Responsibilities

If you’re at the diamonds tonight, you will notice that we will have one new base on GG5 or GG6. This is because, when we went down to the diamonds on Thursday, the cement box was open and all of our bases had been removed and strewn all over the place. After an exhaustive search, one of our bases was determined to be missing.

This is a reminder to all teams: ENSURE THAT THE HOME TEAM OF THE LATE GAME LOCKS THE BASES AWAY.

GG4 – Orange Box
GG5 – Cement Bunker
GG6 – Cement Bunker
GG7 – in the green box where you turn the lights on/off

We have had to replace one base at a cost of $90 to the league. I have spoken with all of the potential offending teams and they all assure me that they locked the bases away – and I believe them. It may have been that the City crew left it open when they gilled the diamonds, but it is not something that we can determine at this time.

Also note – we have purchased new base plugs for all of the diamonds.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU REPLACE THE BASES WITH THE PLUGS.

This helps the next teams coming in to:
a) find the base hole locations, and
b) not have to spend so much time digging out the base holes once they are located.

There are more then enough base plugs at the diamonds. If you cannot find them, please ask someone. If you notice that they have gone missing, let me know ASAP.

I realize that the 3rd base hole on GG7 is still the old one, and this will be replaced shortly. If anyone wants to volunteer their time to assist the executive with this, please let me know and we can make the appropriate arrangements.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at hebz@rogers.com and we can discuss your concerns.

Thanks,

Jon
RCMSPL – President

Editor’s note: the Magnetic Release Bases at the Guelph Lake diamonds are a joint project of GTCSPL and RCMSPL. As such, they are the responsibility of the leagues – NOT the City.

It’s up to US to take care of and maintain these bases, and we ALL have to work together to make them work for us!

Your Attention Is Required

Good afternoon folks. I hope you are enjoying the rest and looking forward to the new season! The Executive is diligently working on the upcoming season and we need some info…

I would like to CONFIRM that your team is returning for this coming year. I need an email from each team to express their interest. We are looking at possible expansion but want to know what we are working with first.

Please send this to me by Sunday February 7th!

If I have not heard from you by then, I will assume that you are no longer interested in putting a team in the league and your spot will be filled.

Thank you,
Bruce
