All games to this point that have been rained out, cancelled, or not played for whatever reason have now been rescheduled. Please make sure to check your ONLINE schedules to see the changes!

If there are any conflicts (there shouldn’t be, but I do sometimes miss these things), please let me know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so I can make any necessary changes.

You’ll note also (should you care to look at the Master Schedule) that we’re getting a little short on diamonds – please do what you can to make sure that all scheduled games get played when they are scheduled for.

All other games are still currently scheduled.

University diamond is fine and games will be played. Check the City website for updates.

Remember folks, the opening tourney is June 4th and 5th. The schedule is in your scorebook (it’s also now posted online). Make sure you are looking at the OPENING tourney schedule in your scorebook! The numbers are based on team numbers.

There is 1 team not competing and those games are noted on the left side as 7-0 forfeits. The opposing team does not have to show for that game. All scores MUST be turned in to the score table located on the hill beside diamond 6.

Sportzone will be set up on Saturday to offer some great deals on all equipment. The concession stand will also be open for hamburgers, hotdogs, snacks and drinks.

All paper roster copies MUST be turned in on or before the tournament to be submitted to NSA. Remember, no roster, no insurance. All online rosters are frozen as of June 3rd until after the tourney. Only players on your roster may play in the tourney.

Some simple rules:

Game ball will be supplied – teams will add second ball.

First game, put out bases.

Last game – put bases away and lock the boxes.

Fines will be imposed as in regular season for not turning out lights or putting away equipment.

Make sure everything is locked – at the men’s tourney, some boxes were left open and damage was done and the league had to pay for damages.

Let me remind you that the unseasonably, cold, windy and rainy weather we’ve experienced early in this season is part of the norm for May for the past few years.

I just want to make it clear that the league has a very tight schedule and we need to stick to it as much as possible.

The only conditions that are acceptable to call a game are:

- The City closes the field.

- The UMPIRE deems the FIELD condition unplayable.

- There is lightning in the area.

- The league Executive calls the game for whatever reason.

Please do your best to stick with this as we have limited dates available for rainouts – never mind for games that are called because it is too cold to play.

This was in response to the cancellation of a few games while other games played on the next diamond. While some games are still to be determined as to whether they will be rescheduled, any other games that have been cancelled for legitimate reasons, such as “the lights didn’t work” (and have since been fixed), will be rescheduled at a later date. The open diamonds are visible for all to see on the Master Schedules (both leagues), so you can be confident that no games will be rescheduled for any time soon.

There was 1 rained out game that I had been holding off on rescheduling because I knew diamonds would become available once the men’s playoffs started.  I have now included those diamonds into the schedule, rearranged some games to move them from unlit diamonds and grouped them to make better use of the available umps.  No one team has been impacted more than once (as far as I know) but many teams were affected.

Please check your schedules and make sure your team is aware of the changes. If, for any reason, the changes do NOT work for your team, please let me know as soon as possible so I can make the necessary changes and give everyone lots of notice.

RCMSPL

I have moved as many games from GG4 as I could without impacting the schedule too drastically, but the games still scheduled on GG4 are in the first 7 days of September when sunset is before 8:00 but twilight goes as long as 8:14.  This should allow time for a complete game to be played with enough light, but …

When we were faced with this problem last season, teams made an effort to arrive at the diamond a little early and start their game before the set 6:30 start time.  To ensure enough time to safely get the game in, please make an effort to get your team out there a little earlier and hopefully start the game at 6:15.  Last season, we allowed players who still showed up before 6:30 to be added to the bottom of the lineup beyond the 10th batter, provided you hadn’t gone through your order.

Playoff Note:

The Divisional Finals will start in the earliest available time slot assigned to any division. For example, if both Semi-Finals series’ are finished and the 3rd game of the last best of 3 is no longer necessary, game 1 of the finals will begin in that time slot.
